300Hz on a laptop? ASUS introduces fastest laptop display to date
June 24, 2025
Many die hard gamers might scoff at the notion of using agaming laptopas their main device, but the truth is there have been massive innovations in the field of portable gaming in the last couple of years. And ASUS is not one to be left behind. Today at IFA 2019, the company announced its fastest laptop display yet, sporting a staggering 300Hz refresh rate.
This innovation should come as no surprise to those who have been following ASUS as of late. The company not only overhauled its entire gaming laptop line up in April, but also introduced the highest refresh rateAMOLED display(120Hz) on theROG Phone 2in July.

Although ASUS already offers laptops with high refresh rate displays, 300Hz is an important step up. According to the company, it “represents a 25% increase over the current standard for high-levelesports tournaments.” A 300Hz display can also draw a new frame every 3.3ms, which is incredibly close to the 3ms response time of pixels.
Of course, the display has to be backed up by beefy hardware for optimal performance. This is why an updated version of the previously released ASUS Zephyrus S GX701 will be the first laptop to sport the new display. It has a GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card and a 9th gen Intel i7 processor on board.
This device is clearly aimed at hardcoreesports enthusiasts. While a high refresh rate always makes the experience smoother and more immersive, it is only critical when playing competitive titles such asfirst person shootersorMOBA games, where split-second delays can change the outcome of the game.
The new version of the ASUS Zephyrus S GX701 will be released in October this year and more ASUS laptops with a 300Hz display are set to follow it in 2020.
