Amazon announces plans to sell Apple TV and Chromecast again

August 20, 2025

It looks like Amazon has decided to blink in its ongoing cold war against Google. The company announced today it will begin selling theGoogle Chromecast TV dongle, along with Apple TV products for the first time in two years.

CNETconfirmsthat listings for Chromecast and the Chromecast Ultra, along with three Apple TV models, are beginning to roll out on Amazon’s site. In a statement, a company spokesperson simply stated, “I can confirm that we are assorting Apple TV and Chromecast.” Amazon removed the TV streaming devices for sale in late 2015, saying they did not wish to confuse buyers with selling products that did not work well with its own Amazon Prime video streaming service. However, Amazon Prime Video finally added support for Apple TV last week, so it makes sense for Amazon to start selling the Apple TV again.

As far as adding Chromecast, you may remember that last week, Google said it wasremoving access to its YouTube servicesfor both Amazon’s Fire TV devices and itsEcho Show. In its own statement, Google said that part of the reason was Amazon was refusing to sell Chromecast dongles, along with itsGoogle Home speakers, and that Amazon Prime does not currently support Chromecast. Whether or not YouTube support will return to Fire TV and Echo Show remains to be seen, however.

Do you think Amazon’s move will cause Google to add YouTube support again to Fire TV and Echo Show? Let us know what you think in the comments!
