Android 9 Pie rolling out now to T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9 devices
July 20, 2025
A few days ago,T-Mobileannounced on Twitter that it had formally approved theAndroid 9 Pieupdate for theSamsung Galaxy Note 9. Now it appears that software update is rolling out to all T-Mobile-branded variants of the handset (viaSamMobile).
As one would expect, this is a phased rollout, so don’t get too upset if you don’t see the update right this second. Just to be sure, you’re able to go toSettings>Software update>Download updates manuallyand do a manual check.

Once you do get the update — which brings firmware version N960U1UEU1CSB3 — you’ll have all the latest Android 9 Pie features, such as adaptive battery, as well as a completely new user experience withOne UI, Samsung’s new Android skin. One UI makes navigation much easier by keeping icons and switches nearer to the bottom of the display and brings a simpler, more elegant look overall.
With this T-Mobile update, that leaves only the unlocked andVerizon-branded variants of the Note 9 as still missing the Pie upgrade.

While all eyes are currently on theSamsung Galaxy S10as far as flagship phones go, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is still a top-of-the-line device. With Android 9 Pie onboard, the phone will easily hold its own against newer devices.
