It’s been nearly two months since theiPhone 6Swas released onto the market promising the greatest in camera quality but according to DxOMark, Apple doesn’t quite hit the mark.

Looking at the rankings, we can see thatAppledoes make the top 10, in three different instances but all of these round off the top ten. Ahead of Apple, Android dominates the rest of the top ten, with theSony Xperia Z5taking the top spot followed by theSamsung Galaxy S6 Edgeand theGoogle Nexus 6P.
TheLG G4comes in fourth, while last year’sGalaxy Note 4ranks highly in fifth. Next up is the very capableMoto X Style(aka theMoto X Pure Edition) while in seventh isSony’s Xperia Z3+. TheiPhone 6 Plus,iPhone 6andiPhone 6Sthen round off the top ten but it remains to be seen whether theiPhone 6S Pluscan break into the top ten ahead of its siblings. Samsung’sGalaxy Note 5is also conspicuous in its absence from the ranking and given the Note 4 and S6 Edge are high on the list, the Note 5 may yet be able to top the pile.

Now, DxOMark claims that the Xperia Z5 is the best smartphone camera but of course, each company has its own way of testing so we’ve conducted a small camera shootout of our own. Head over toour blind camera shootoutto see how the Xperia Z5, LG G4, iPhone 6S and Galaxy Note 5 stack up to each other and which comes closest to the Canon EOS 70D DSLR.
