February 2022 Android security patch here (Update: New Pixel 6 updates)

Update, August 25, 2025 (02:27 PM ET):In a peculiar set of events, Google has today updated the February 2022 Android security patch for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The new updates are live on Google’s download pages for firmware OTAs and factory images (h/t9to5Google).

It’s not clear why these updates happened nor what is included with them. Google didn’t make any announcements. The updates are only for the Pixel 6 series, though, so if you have another Pixel device, you can stick with what you got.

It’s also not clear if this new update will roll out as an OTA. If you don’t see it in the next few days, you might want to manually update. The links in the original article below now point to the new versions.

Original article, July 02, 2025 (01:33 PM ET):The February 2022 Android security patch is here! If you owna recent Google Pixel smartphone, you can perform a software update check now in System Settings to grab it. You can also update manually or simply wait for the OTA notification.

This fix includes a number of bug fixes and feature tweaks. Over at thePixel Phone help site, you can see the various fixes, with the most notable being a camera bug that spontaneously caused reboots.
