Get your pitchforks: here are renders of LG’s next flagship with a notch

August 20, 2025

Whatever side of the coin you find yourself on when it comes to the trend of Android devices copyingthe iPhone X’s display notch, it’s painfully clear that the majority of smartphone brands areplanning lookalike devices. You can now likely addLGto the list, as theLG G7(or whatever LG is calling its next flagship) will probably have a notch, according to new concept images.

To be clear, the images in this article were not leaked from LG. These are third-party concept renders developed by designerBen Geskin. However, the information used to create the renders comes froma leaked video of an LG flagship prototypetaken atMobile World Congress 2018as well asvarious internet rumors.

The images paint a clear picture of LG’s next device, codenamed Judy: an all-screen display with a notch at the top. There’s a fingerprint reader on the back underneath a dual camera setup.

If this is the direction LG is in fact going, it’s incredibly disappointing. When the company surprised the industry by announcing thatit would be scrapping its then-current plansfor its follow-up to theLG G6, some theorized that the company would be taking theBlue Ocean strategyand developing something intriguing that would set it apart from other phones. Nope. According to these concept renders, LG is simply jumping on every bandwagon at once and releasing aniPhone X clone. Hardly visionary, LG.

The Judy smartphone is rumored to have a 6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440, a Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. However, those are just rumored specs; nothing is yet confirmed.

Besides, the specs barely matter anymore because specs alone don’t sell phones. Is LG (andOppo, andSamsung, andHuawei, andAsus) simply going to rely on people saying, “I want an Android device that looks like an iPhone” as its marketing strategy? Come on. We can do better than that.

Maybe we’ll get lucky and LG will scrap plans for this phone, too, and work on something that’s actually new and exciting.
