Google Camera update adds Google Lens access for Pixel and Nexus owners

July 11, 2025

Google is rolling out a Google Camera update that gives it easy access to Google Lens. Phones that support Google Camera, such as thePixeland Nexus devices, will now be able to access Google’s AI-powered tool  alongside the other camera modes in the app

According to9to5Google, launching Google Lens in the Google Camera is basically the same as when it is launched through Google Assistant. This means Google Lens will give you information about objects that it can see through the viewfinder. Users can also copy, search for, and translate text.

Google has slowly been expanding the reach of Google Lens since late last year. Initially, it wasmade availableto someGoogle Pixel and Pixel XLowners through the Google Assistant app. It thenrolled out to Android devices with Google Photos installed, before coming tocertain flagship devices as part of Google Assistant. Most recently, it was made available as astandalone app.

It appears that integration in the default camera app is the next step for Google Lens and it is already available on the default camera of brands such asSonyandLenovo.
