Google Clips passes by the FCC, inches closer to launch

Announced back in October alongsideGoogle‘s refreshedPixel lineupandPixelbook,Google Clipslooks to be one step closer to launch, thanks to its recent visit to theFCC.
The filing does not unveil anything new— the device sports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as a built-in rechargeable battery that should net you three hours of use. Though the use of “G015A” as the model name keeps things in line with what was shared in previous Google Clips promotional images.
We also see that the quirky design is intact, though it helps that Google Clips is as small as it is. It also helps that the device looks as subjectively obnoxious as it does— your eyes are instantly drawn to the black lens, which helps you more quickly identify Google Clips as a camera.
That being said, Google Clips looks to be a nifty device that automatically shoots images and small video loops. They are then saved to yourGoogle Photosaccount, where you can change a few things around or share what you have.
The question of why Google Clips exists, however, is one I have no answer to. Google has a long history of experiments, and Google Clips looks to be the latest out of Mountain View. Only time will tell whether Google is serious about having its little camera succeed.
We might not have to wait long to find out. Best Buy already has the $250 cameralisted on its website, and you canjoin the waitliston the Google Store, so it is only a matter of time.
