Whether it’s a hardware- or software-related problem, the Pixel 2 XL is no stranger to legitimate complaints. That brings us to today, when several users have reported a bug that limits the volume level when recording voice messages.

Folks on thePixel User Communitythread have complained about the bug since last November, when someone said the sound was very low on a message they sent on WhatsApp. Since then, people have reported the same problem on Instagram, Google Allo, and Telegram, and that the issue was not resolved with recent security patches and the update to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Android Policedid not spot any Pixel 2 users who have reported the bug, which means it might only affect Pixel 2 XL owners. Also, the website points out that the bug might have more to do with recording audio clips rather than a problem with the Pixel 2 XL’s microphone.

Numerousthreadshave popped up since the bug was first reported, and solutions like uninstalling the affected messaging app and factory resetting the phone have not eliminated the issue.
