Google publishes free Android 5.0 Lollipop Quick Start Guide
August 14, 2025
This just in, we have potential names for the next few Android builds:Huckle Berry and Rye(alasCherryis a no-go). All kidding aside, Android 5.0 is more than just a barbershop haircut, it’s the latest and greatest build of Google’s ever-evolving OS. Although the newMaterial Designinterface has been made available to existing users in a piecemeal-fashion via specific apps, the full-blown experience is something to behold.
While the world eagerly awaits a taste, things are a bit easier now that the Play Store has an officialAndroid Quick Start Guidefor Lollipop. The free digital publication — which has already received some negative reviews from Play commentators who feel it’s too basic — is available globally, and covers the new OS as it appears on Nexus and Google Play Edition devices.

Experienced Android users will probably end up bypassing this eBook entirely, but please consider downloading it for any new family member, friend, or co-worker who may be new to the dessert case, or contemplating buying their very first smartphone in the near future. It’s always nice when a company (or at least its development staff) care enough to try and offer its customers a hand in navigating a brave new world, let alone a 62 page offering like this one. You might also consider giving it a quick glance-through whilewaiting for the Nexus 6 to reappear.
Remember to check back with Android Authority often to keep up-to-date with the latest Lollipop news.
