Google wants to improve your app experience across its devices and platforms
July 17, 2025
Google is looking to make app experiences smoother beyond mobile and across all form factors and platforms such as Wear OS, Android TV, Google TV, Android Auto, and more. To do this, the firm hasannouncedthe Play Media Experience program.
The new initiative will allow developers to better integrate their apps across Google’s products and devices. The company says it’ll enable “additional discovery and engagement opportunities” for developers with apps in the video, audio, or book publishing spaces.

Specifically, Google is looking to promote video app integrations with Android TV, Google TV, and Google Cast. This will enable video apps to have a better, more uniform presence across all three platforms. Users would also benefit from smart content recommendations, improved content discovery, easier sign-ups, and more.
Additionally, the company wants to better integrate subscription music and audio services across Wear OS, Android Auto, Android TV, and Google Cast for content discovery and continued listening on devices.
To enhance reading experiences on large screens, Google is also calling on book app developers to optimize their apps for foldables, andEntertainment SpaceonAndroid tablets.
In fact, Google’s new program is targeted at apps that have over 100,000 monthly active installs on Google Play. They also need to have strong Google Play ratings, a developer account in good standing, and more.
