Got an older phone? Try Rootless Pixel Launcher with Android Go optimizations

July 10, 2025

There are plenty of great launchers out there, delivering everything from extra features to improved performance. We can now add another option to the list, in the form of the Android Go-optimized Rootless Pixel Launcher by AmirZ.

The launcher, spotted byXDA-Developers, differs from the standard Rootless Pixel Launcher by using less RAM, always featuring a 4×4 app grid, disabling widgets, and turning off notification dots.

The 4×4 app grid delivers some huge icons on myGalaxy S8, but those with budget phones or older devices in general should still give it a shot if they want to claw back some performance.

XDAreports that the launcher uses roughly a third of the RAM compared to the standard launcher. It’s a pretty noteworthy figure given Google’s RAM targets for Android Go. The Mountain View company launched the Android Go platform with minimum requirements going as low as 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage.
