Lenovo’s Moto X4 will reportedly come to Project Fi in Q4 2017
August 23, 2025
Google has beenworking hardto improveProject Fias of late, but there are still a few things holding users back from joining the MVNO. Perhaps the most notable reason why users are reluctant to join is due to the lack of affordable devices compatible with the service. As of right now, the Pixel,Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6 are the only phones that can work on Fi.
But a couple days ago,Google shared some good news on Twitter: a new smartphone at a “mid-tier” price would come to Project Fi later this year.
The question is, what is this new Fi-compatible phone? Who’s this mysterious “partner” of Google’s? Apparently it’s Motorola, according to a new rumor fromVentureBeat.
The report is pretty light on the details, thoughVentureBeathas learned from a source that the next Fi phone will be this year’s Moto X iteration, the Moto X4. The device is supposedly launching sometime in Q4 of this year.
Currently not much is known about the Moto X4, aside froma leaked presentationthat surfaced back in May (video below). The device is rumored to sport a metal chassis, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, as well as the newQualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and a 3,800 mAh battery.
Evan Blass, author of theVentureBeatrumor, alsotweeted a slide a few months agothat claimed the X4 would sport a 5.2-inch Full HD display, as well as something called ‘3D Glass’ and a ‘SmartCam’.
Obviously a lot is still unknown about the Moto X4, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.
