June 09, 2025
Google might have madeAndroid 9.0 Pieofficial several weeks ago, but a good number of smartphones are still stuck onAndroid Nougat. According toAndroid Central, LG is now rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to theV20andQ6.
When LG V20 and Q6 owners receive the update, they will have a good number of new features and software improvements on their smartphones.Android 8.0 Oreoincludes picture-in-picture, password autofill, notification channels, and much more.

On top of Oreo, the LG Q6 will get support forDTS:X7.1 channel 3D surround sound and a new feature that turns the device’s flashlight on and off based on the beat of any music played on the phone.
TheLG G6andG7 ThinQare also receiving software updates focused on the camera. First, the G6 is getting the company’s AI-enhanced Bright Camera feature. This automated tool should help choose the best camera settings when it detects low-light situations and allow for the capture of brighter images. Secondly, LG G7 owners will soon have the option to add AR stickers to their photos and videos.

It’s believed that all four of these firmware updates are in part thanks to LG’s newSoftware Upgrade Center. While the primary purpose of this center was to speed up software updates for LG’s phone’s, we’re happy to see it also focusing on major Android upgrades for the company’s older handsets.
All of the updates that we’ve discussed will soon be rolling out to handsets in Korea. Smartphones in international markets should get the upgrades in “the coming months.”
