LG Pay is shutting down in the US later this year
June 24, 2025
LG’s mobile division is almost entirely dead, and we’re now seeing the remaining dominoes fall. The company has now announced the shutdown of its mobile payments service,LG Pay, later this year.
LG confirmed in an email toAndroid Authoritythat the payments service will be shuttered on July 20, 2025, in the US.

The company notes that it will soon “stop accepting new enrolments to LG Pay; stop allowing the addition of new cards to existing accounts (Credit/Debit/Prepaid Card, Gift Card, Loyalty Card); and no longer allow the purchase of new gift cards.” However, users may continue to use the service with existing cards until the final day.
LG Pay US shutdown: What it means for users
LG Pay is the company’s wireless payments service employing NFC and LG’s Wireless Magnetic Communication (WMC) to mimic real cards. The latter allowed for similar functionality toSamsung Pay. While LG users in the US can still download another app, likeGoogle Pay, they will no longer have WMC tech at their disposal. This will affect the owners of theLG G8xandLG V60.
When LG announced its departure from the smartphone sector, it confirmed it would continue to providesecurity updatesto legacy phones. It seems maintaining apps and services related to its smartphone business was not in its scope.
LG Pay recommends users spend any remaining funds on LG Pay Perks Cards ahead of the decommission date. Users should also jot down the details of any gift cards stored on the service.
