MediaTek announces new 64-bit octa-core processor slated for mid-range phones

MediaTekhas just announced its newest chipset for the mid-range market here atMWC 2015. It’s called the MT6753, and it’s a 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit processor with support for WorldMode modem capability. This new SoC is made with battery efficiency in mind. And, as a bonus, the MT6753 is compatible with 4G LTE technology, so users will be able to take advantage of those super fast download and upload speeds.
MediaTek says that paired with itsMali-T720 GPU, the two processors will be able to offer smooth graphic-intensive multimedia experiences to the mid-range market. Here are a few other features that come with the new chipset:
The MT6753 is currently sampling to customers now, and should be making its way to consumer devices as early as Q2 2015. Coupled with the previously announced MT6735 quad-core SoC, the new MT6753 is designed with high performance features for an ever more demanding mid-range market.
Reinforcing MediaTek’s commitment to driving the latest technology to customers across the world, the MT6753 SoC will be offered at a price that creates strong value for customers, especially as it comes with integrated CDMA2000 to ensure compatibility in every market. The eight ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit processors andMali-T720 GPU helps to ensure customers can meet graphic-heavy multimedia requirements while also maintaining battery efficiency for high-end devices.
