OnePlus 6T launch bumped a day to avoid clash with spotlight-stealing Apple

August 22, 2025

In a lengthypost on the OnePlus forums, company CEO Pete Lau announced the launch date of theOnePlus 6Twill be moved up by a day. The reason behind this change is the recent announcement of an Apple hardware event happening on the same date.

The OnePlus 6T was originally going tolaunch on October 30, a date OnePlus officially announced on October 8. However, yesterday Apple sent out invites for its own hardware event for the same date.

Rather than compete with the world’s most successful company, OnePlus decided to move out of the way and let Apple have the launch date OnePlus had reserved weeks ago.

Lau explains in his post that the decision was made very carefully. As OnePlus events are filled with attendees from all over the world — both by the media and OnePlus fans — the movement of the date this late in the game will likely cause major travel and lodging issues for many. However, the impact of the OnePlus 6T launch would simply be overshadowed by the launch of the Apple products, and a judgment call had to be made.

However, OnePlus is making sure the date change doesn’t profoundly negatively affect those who plan to attend to OnePlus 6T launch. According to the forum post:

The forum post leaves little doubt that having to move the date was a tough decision, but OnePlus appears to be ready to stand with its fans and make the best of a bad situation.
