OnePlus 7 Pro confirmed: set to pack impressive display tech, 5G support

OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the OnePlus 7 Pro is in the works and discussed some of its features.
Speaking toThe Vergefor an article published earlier today, Lau said the OnePlus 7 Pro would pack 5G capabilities, and that its screen would set a new benchmark for smartphone displays.
Lau didn’t confirm the OnePlus 7 Pro would feature a QHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate,as rumors suggest, but he did say the screen would be “very crisp” and that it would “redefine fast and smooth.” He also said OnePlus is spending three times as much on the display as on the screens of previous OnePlus models.
Mostrecent flagship phone displayshave 1080p resolution and refresh at 60Hz — the OnePlus 7 Pro could have the edge when playing certain games and viewing 1440p media.
Price and release date
Lau also didn’t confirm the phone’s price, butThe Vergesaid it would probably be up there with 2019 flagships like theSamsung Galaxy S10($899) and theHUAWEI P30 Pro($899).
OnePlus phones typically go on sale within a couple of weeks of their reveal and both the OnePlus 7 Pro and standard OnePlus 7 are tipped to launchon May 14. OnePlus is expected to confirm the official launch date in anannouncement tomorrow.
