OnePlus officially ends software support for two former flagships
July 23, 2025
OnePlus6 and 6T owners are waking up to some bad news today. The two former flagships will no longer receive software support, OnePlus confirmed in an official forum post.
“After three major updates and more than three years of updates, around 60 Closed Beta builds and over 30 Open Beta builds it’s now time to close a chapter and announce the end of OnePlus 6 and 6T official software support,” thepostexplains (h/tXDA).

As a result, Oxygen OS 11.1.2.2 delivered in November 2021 will stand as the duo’s final update. Neither device will receive the official Android 12 build.

Although it’s dire news for owners, it was a matter of time until both devices were retired. OnePlus kept its promise of offering three years of security updates to both phones. TheOnePlus 6is nearly four years old, debuting in mid-2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo. TheOnePlus 6T, albeit slightly younger, recently celebrated its third birthday.
Notably, if you own a newer OnePlus flagship there’s no need to worry just yet. In July 2021, the companycommittedto three major Android updates and four years of security updates for the OnePlus 8 series and newer. The revised program explicitly left out the OnePlus 7 and 7T, so expect these to be the company’s next flagships to bite the dust.
