Oppo’s Wear OS-powered Apple Watch copycat is launching globally this month

OPPO is launching its new smartwatch globally on Friday, July 31. The company first revealed the OPPO Watch in March of this year, but the smartwatchonly launched in Chinarunning the company’s own ColorOS software. The version that’s launching globally this month will run Google’s Wear OS.
You can see a brief glimpse of the OPPO Watch in the GIF attached above. Not many details can be gleaned from the teaser, aside from the shape of the display towards the end as well as the Wear OS logo following the watch’s appearance. Of course, OPPO is cribbing more than one design cue from the Apple Watch, so you’ll likely notice that the overall display shape and flowery watch face resemble Apple’s wearable.
Exact hardware details have yet to be officially revealed by the company, though we can assume it’ll be nearly identical (or very similar) to the Chinese version. The OPPO Watch recentlypassed by the FCC, giving us a few details about the hardware. It’ll have an optical heart rate sensor, a 1.9-inch AMOLED display, 46mm chassis, and 5ATM water resistance. While the processor is currently unknown, it’ll have 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. It’ll also be LTE-capable via eSIM.
The FCC documents also reveal the OPPO Watch will have a 430mAh battery. The Chinese version can last approximately 40 hours with normal use or 21 days in power-saving mode. However,Wear OSis a particularly power-hungry operating system, so we’d imagine those numbers won’t be nearly as impressive for the global version.
