Indian mobile wallet major, MobiKwik, has announced the launch of a lightweight edition of the wallet – MobiKwik ‘Lite’ – that allows unorganized retailers and shopkeepers across India in receiving payments seamlessly. MobiKwik ‘Lite’ addresses the challenges being faced by masses in accessing wallet payments – language, connectivity, and quality of smartphones.

The app is only 1MB in size and can be downloaded in under a minute, and works smoothly on 2G/EDGE connections. Also, it supports even dated Android smartphones (v2.3 and above). MobiKwik claims that MobiKwik ‘Lite’ will address the underserved smartphone users in India who face challenges of slow data connectivity and thus are unable to access digital payments easily.

The company has also shared that by the end of this week, the app will be available in all major Indian languages. Soon, MobiKwik ‘Lite’ will also have an offline version that would work without any data connectivity.

Interestingly, MobiKwik ‘Lite’ is not listed on Google Play Store, and needs to downloaded directly by giving a missed call to 80971-80971 from any Android smartphone.

MobiKwik ‘Lite’ is targeted towards small retailers and service providers, and the company is also expanding its on-ground workforce to reach out to the unorganized retailers pan India and educate them about the same.
