realme 5 “series” launching this month with macro camera
July 08, 2025
realme confirmed last week that therealme 5family will arrive later this year, and the brand has now revealed a launch date. The companyannouncedon Twitter that the realme 5 series (suggesting a possible Pro model too) will arrive on August 20.
We already know that the company will bring quad rear cameras to the range, but aFlipkart splash pagehas revealed a few more details.

The page notes that the realme 5 series will offer a primary camera,ultra-widecamera (119 degree field of view), a depth sensor, and a macro camera. The latter sensor will allow users to snap images from just 1.5-inches away.
It wouldn’t be the first time we see a macro camera on a smartphone though. TheHONOR 20andHONOR 20 Proalso feature a normal/wide/macro/depth combo. Our own Oliver Cragg thought the macro camera was a great idea in theory in hisHONOR 20 review, but criticized the 2MP resolution and window of operation (only working well when between three and five centimeters away from subject). Hopefully the realme 5’s macro functionality offers higher resolution shots and more flexibility in general.

It’s a little disappointing that we don’t see a telephoto camera though, after realmeteasedthat this would be the foundation of its quad camera setup. Then again, it’s possible we’ll see a telephoto shooter on a realme 5 Pro or a futurerealme Xseries device instead.
realme CEO Madhav Sheth has also teased a48MPprimary camera (IMX586) for the realme 5 series, This would be a major step up from the 13MP and 16MP primary shooters seen on therealme 3and3 Pro.Update:realme has sinceconfirmedthat the 48MP camera is coming to the Pro model — there’s no word on the shooter coming to the standard variant.
We don’t know have any more realme 5 details just yet but, judging by previous entries, we’re looking at a sub-$150 price point. Even if the series ventures into $200 territory, it seems like you’re getting a flexible camera platform for the price.
The realme 5 series isn’t the only major phone the brand has up its sleeve, as it’s also working on a64MP quad camera smartphone. The brand says the phone will land in India before Diwali (October 27), likely beating Xiaomi’s 64MP phone to the market.
