Redmi K30 5G apparently capable of 144Hz display refresh rate
July 25, 2025
Today, on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, Redmi executive Lu Weibingshared a videodepicting aRedmi K30 5Gachieving a display refresh rate of 144Hz. The 15-seconds-long video is mirrored on YouTube, which we’ve embedded above.
According to Google Translate, Mr. Weibing uses the word “tuned” in his post on the matter, whileother sourcesare interpreting his statement as “tested.” Either way, it does not appear that the Redmi K30 5G is going to officially launch with a 144Hz display refresh rate. Redmi is likely just doing this to show it is possible.
Interestingly, the previous version in the Redmi K series, theRedmi K20 Pro(a.k.a. theXiaomi Mi 9T Pro), was also capable of a higher refresh rate than its native 60Hz. Over atXDA Developers, modders were able to get the K20 Pro up to 75Hz, with 90Hz being theoretically possible. However, battery life suffered the higher the refresh rate went.

With that in mind, it’s likely that there would be too much battery drainage for the Redmi K30 5G with a 144Hz display refresh rate. Instead, we expect it to have a 120Hz refresh rate asRedmi previously revealed.
It should be noted that the Redmi K30 5G will come with an IPS LCD display, not an OLED panel. We’ve already seen plenty of 120Hz display refresh rates on LCD panels, such as the one on theRazer Phonefrom all the way back in 2017. The 90Hz display refresh rates on theOnePlus 7TandGoogle Pixel 4are generally considered to be of a higher quality because of their OLED design. The 120Hz refresh rate displays expected on theOnePlus 8andSamsung Galaxy S20 serieswill also likely be superior to the rate on the Redmi K30 5G.
