Samsung’s latest Galaxy A phones arrive in the US (Update: On sale now!)

Original article:You didn’t have to wait long to get Samsung mid-range phones like theGalaxy A52in the US.Samsunghas announced prices and availability for A series phones in the country, and they’re mostly good news if you want one of the company’s more affordable devices.
The Galaxy A42 5G arrives first, shipping through Samsung andVerizon(disclaimer: this author also writes for Verizon-ownedEngadget) on April 8 for$399.99with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its 6.6-inch, 60Hz AMOLED screen won’t make others envious, but the Snapdragon 750G chip, 48MP triple rear camera setup, and under-screen fingerprint reader could make it a solid choice.

The Galaxy A12, A32 5G, and A52 5G will be available April 9 across a range of US carriers, although your choices will vary widely. Of these, only Verizon will carry the A02s, whileAT&Tis leaving the A32 out of its regular lineup — you’ll need to go toCricket, which won’t offer the A52.T-Mobileand itsMetroservice will offer everything from this batch except for the A02s, butUScellularcustomers and those wanting an unlocked phone will have to spring for the A02s or A52.Boostand Charter customers will have to make do with the A02s if they want a carrier-bound version.
Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy A02s will be available throughthe company websiteas well as Boost, UScellular, and Verizon starting on April 29. TheGalaxy A72is conspicuously absent from the American releases, although that’s not surprising since it’s missing 5G.
US prices start at$109.99for the Galaxy A02s and climb gradually upward for the A12 ($179.99), A32 5G ($279.99), and A52 5G ($499.99). Samsung is keen to note that the A32 is its first 5G phone to sell for less than $300 in the country — worth noting if you don’t mind the MediaTek 720 chip and conventional authentication, although you will get a 6.5-inch “HD+” 90Hz display in the bargain.
The highlight of the US roster is clearly the Galaxy A52 5G. Much like last year’sGalaxy A51, it edges surprisingly close to flagship-level specs despite its mid-tier status. The A52 touts a 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 750G, 128GB of storage, and IP67 water resistance. While it’s still not as powerful as theS20 FE, which adds a Snapdragon 865 and wireless charging, you’re also saving $200 in official pricing. Those may be small sacrifices if you want a phone that’s responsive in day-to-day use.
