The feature does suggest a possible future for the S Pen as more than just a stylus. While it only has one button at present, the S Pen could work well as an always-availablewireless mousefor use within Dex. It’s not yet clear if the stylus is ready to adopt that functionality in 2020’s iteration of the Note though.

If no additional hardware is required, pointer mode could theoretically make its way to the Galaxy Note 10 andGalaxy S6 Tabvia a software update. It will also likely be included on the Note 20 andNote 20 Plus. We wouldn’t rule out the feature hitting the rumoredGalaxy Tab S7either.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 series is expected to be announced on August 5 at the company’sUnpackedevent.
