The LG V40 may pack five cameras

August 02, 2025

It would appear thatLGis going all out to make mobile photography fans interested in its next flagship phone. A newreport fromAndroid Policeclaims that LG is working on the V40, the true successor to theLG V30, and that it could have as many as five camera sensors on board. If true, it could be the first such phone released with five cameras.

The story says that one of the two front-facing cameras, and maybe both of them, will also support a new face unlock feature, possibly with the use of 3D facial mapping technology. Two of the three rear cameras on the LG V40 will reportedly have a standard wide lens and an ultra-wide lens, but the report did not confirm what the third rear camera would be used for. By comparison, the three cameras on the back of theHUAWEI P20 Proinclude an RGB sensor, a monochrome sensor, and a telephoto lens.

Android Policeadds that the LG V40 will use theQualcomm Snapdragon 845processor (surprise, surprise), and will also come with a Quad DAC for audio. There will be a dedicated button forGoogle Assistant, and that the display will have a notch design that can be “turned off” in the settings menu. The article did not have any information on a possible price tag or a release date for the V40.

While LG’s previous phones in the V-series have always hadimpressive camera and photography features, it sounds like the company may be making a bigger push on that front to get people to try the V40. It remains to be seen whether throwing in five cameras in one phone is a revolutionary move, or just a statistical sales gimmick.
