June 30, 2025
Google Assistanthas a very handy feature calledContinued Conversationson Google’s smart speakers and displays. The same is now reportedly headed to Android smartphones, possibly those other than thePixel 4.
Continued Conversations allow users to chat with the Google Assistant seamlessly, without having to repeat the “Ok, Google” or “Hey, Google” wake commands for each reply.

A tipster shared screenshots of the Continued Conversations feature on an unnamed smartphone withAndroid Police.
The toggle to turn-on Continued Conversations on a phone was spotted by the tipster in the Google Assistant settings.

Even though the tipster turned the mode on for his phone, the Assistant stopped listening to him after the first voice command. With Continued Conversations enabled, the Google Assistant should continue listening for eight seconds for a follow-up command. It seems like Google is still working out the kinks and is not ready for a wider roll-out of the feature on phones.
How to enable Continued Conversations on Pixel 4
We did some digging around and found aGoogle support pagewhich lists that the Continued Conversations feature can be enabled on the Pixel 4’snew Google Assistantalready, but the feature is currently only available in English and in the US.
If you have aPixel 4and want to enable Continued Conversations on your phone, you need to make sure your Google app version is updated to 10.73 or up.
you may then ask theGoogle Assistanton your Pixel 4 to Say “Hey Google, open Assistant settings” or on your phone, go toSettings > Apps & Notifications > Assistantto turn on Continued Conversations.
It’s possible Google is looking to roll out the feature to other Android phones. For now, it seems limited to Pixel 4, Google smart speakers and displays, as well as some third-party speakers and displays with Google Assistant.
