This new email service stops spam before it gets into your inbox

June 09, 2025

Edison Mail is one of the morepopular email appsaround, offering quite a few convenient features. The Edison team is building on that success as it’s just announced the OnMail service.

The company is touting “Permission Control” as the standout feature of OnMail, but what does that actually mean?

“You get to decide who comes in, and who gets your attention. We stop spam before it enters your inbox so your inbox stays clean,” reads an excerpt of a press release sent toAndroid Authority.

This sounds identical to Edison Mail’sability to block email addressesand send mails from those addresses to trash. But the team tells us that while they’re based on the same technology, the actual execution is different.

In the Edison Mail app, the Block Sender feature lets you send any emails from a specific address to trash. Meanwhile, Edison OnMail’s Permission Control will let you accept or decline a specific email address landing in your inbox.

“You will not see any email messages from anyone you decline entry into your mailbox anywhere in your inbox. If at any point you wish to review email addresses you have declined to allow them entry, you can easily do so from inside the service,” an Edison representative clarified.

OnMail’s team also touts better search functionality (i.e. more natural searching), support for large attachments, and automatic read receipt blocking.
