This PS Vita-like gaming phone packs 6,000mAh battery, physical controls

Gaming smartphonesseem to be the flavor of the season. Blingy lights, powerful processors and gaming optimizations made theRazer Phone,ASUS ROG Phoneand others like theXiaomiBlack Sharkstand out in 2018. Now Moqi, a sub-brand of Chinese gaming firm Snail Digital, has joined the fray with its eponymous gaming handset (h/t:Liliputing).
The phone takes a decidedly unique approach towards gaming smartphones. It looks like Sony’sPlayStationVita, with integrated physical controls including two analog sticks, a D-Pad, standard gaming keys as well as shoulder buttons. It seems to be an updated version of a device Moqi showed off wayback in 2017.
Of course, a gaming phone wouldn’t be much without some decent power under the hood. Specifications include aQualcommSnapdragon 710 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The screen is a 6-inch Full HD panel and has Gorilla Glass 3 for a degree of protection. There’s even a heat conduction pipeline to keep the temperatures down during those heated gaming sessions. Other specifications include a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
The Moqi launches with Android 8.1 and has a number of optimizations for gaming, including support for macros and a gaming-focused do not disturb mode. The phone even has dual SIM support and has been tested for compatibility in the E.U., U.S. and Asian markets.
Now, a gaming phone just wouldn’t be complete without abig battery. The Moqi gaming phone has a gigantic 6,000mAh battery that’s, wait for it, user replaceable. There’s support forQuick Charge3.0 too so you should be able to top off the battery relatively quickly. Couple that with stereo speakers, amicroSDcard slot and yes, aheadphone jack, and the Moqi phone should make for an interesting device not just for gaming but even for media consumption.
The Moqi is now available for backers onIndiegogoat a super early bird price of $399 for the first 50 customers.
