UK, France, and Japan residents can now get an Essential Phone
June 05, 2025
TheEssential Phoneis about a year old, and in that time has only been for sale in two places: the United States and Canada. That changes today, as residents in the United Kingdom, France, and Japan can get their hands on an Essential Phone and all the available accessories.
Additionally, Canadians can now buy the Essential Phone straight fromEssential.com. Previously, the device was only available throughCanadian wireless carrier Telus.

Customers outside of the United States (including Canada) will pay the currency exchange equivalent for an Essential Phone, which is currently $499 for Black Moon and Pure White (pictured above), and $599 for Stellar Gray. Also, non-U.S. customers will also be on the hook for “shipping, duties, or tax costs” that may be incurred by purchasing products from Essential.com.
While that last bit of info could certainly put a damper on people’s spirits (considering those fees can add up really quickly), it’s nice to see that one of the most ambitious Android phones of the last few years is stepping out into the world.

Essential has been incredibly good withupdating its devices, bringing security updates in a timely fashion and upgrading the Essential Phone toAndroid 8.1 Oreo, the latest available version of the operating system. Granted, the companyskipped over Android 8.0 Oreowhich left a big gap between OS updates, but that likely won’t happen again in the future.
