Unlocked Moto Z owners in the US can now get Android Oreo

WhileMotorola Moto Zowners in Brazil sawAndroid 8.0 Oreoalmosttwo months ago, owners of unlocked Moto Z devices in the United States were left out in the cold. However, it looks like Motorola isfinally rolling out Oreoto all unlocked Moto Z devices in the U.S. starting now.

You may already have a notification for the update as you read this. But if not, you’re able to simply head toSettings > About phone > Software Update > Check for updates.

Keep in mind, that to update your Moto Z to Android 8.0 Oreo, you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi and have at least 50% battery. Ideally, your phone will be charging during the update just to be safe.

Weighing in at 1.4GB, the Android 8.0 Oreo update brings allthe usual Oreo featuresto the Moto Z, including picture-in-picture, notification dots, and support for Android Instant Apps. It also brings the latest security patch (up to March 1, anyway) and what Motorola refers to as “stability improvements.”
