(Update: three games gone) Sega will remove select games from the Play Store for not keeping up with the company’s standards

June 10, 2025

Update (5/19):Since its original announcement, the video game company has pulled three titles from the Google Play Store –After Burner Climax, Jet Set RadioandSuper Monkey Ball 2. None of these titles have received updates for quite some time, and if you’ve ever played them, you’d know that all three could use some work. Like we mentioned in the original post, if you’ve paid for these games, you can still play them. They should be accessible from the My Apps section in the Play Store.

Additionally, a whopping 16 games have been removed from Apple’s App Store, which ismuchmore than Google Play’s list. We’ll continue to update you as more games are removed.

Original post (5/8):Sega, the Japanese video game developer, has just announced its plans to remove a number of games from the Google Play Store over the next few weeks for not keeping up with the company’s high standards. Users who have purchased a mobile game from the company in the past will still be able to access those games from the My Apps section in the Play Store. There’s no word yet as to which games are being removed, but the company explains that the titles may return in an updated form. These select games are also being removed from the Amazon Appstore, Samsung App Store and the Apple App Store. From Sega:

Sega has almost 30 classic titles available in the Play Store, including Sonic Dash, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Tennis Challenge and many more. When the company makes the announcement, we’ll be sure to let you know which titles are leaving and which ones are staying.
