Verizon update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge scrubs bloatware, adds RAM manager
June 27, 2025
What all can you look forward to with this newest update? Previously, the Google Play Store had been experiencing some irritating errors when attempting to download or update apps from time to time. Samsung has cleaned up these bugs, and they’ve also fixed some issues that have been plaguing Visual Voice Mail access. On the UI side of things, Google Search is now available under the settings, and you can answer video calls the same way you normally answer voice calls. The previously mandatory Amazon Music app has been purged (unless youwantto keep it) and when you plug a USB cable into the device, the default mode automatically shows other USB options such as File Transfer. They’ve also added a “Send Premium SMS” in the Application manager settings.
All this is well and good, but one particularly nice addition is a new menu that allows you to see how much RAM specific apps are currently using. This can be useful in hunting down and murdering resource hogs. Check it out by heading toSettings > Applications > Application manager > More.

The update will be rolling out over the next few days, but you’re able to see if it’s available for your device yet by going toHome > Applications > Settings > About Device > Software updates. Let us know if it’s available for you yet in the comments below, and also tell us what you think about these new tweaks and fixes.
