What do you think this Google device is that just passed through the FCC?

August 25, 2025

Googlejust revealed a ton of info on its slate of upcoming flagship phones, thePixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. We also expect the company to launch aPixel 5aquite soon.

However, a new Google product justpassed through the FCC, and it almost certainly isn’t any of those phones. As first spotted byAndroid Police, the listing appears to be for a “wireless streaming device,” but we’re not quite sure what to make of it.

The most obvious possibility is a new Chromecast. TheChromecast with Google TVlaunched around this time last year, so it’s possible a sequel or slight alteration to that device is on the way. However, the model number of this mystery Google product — GJQ9T — doesn’t bear any resemblance to any existing Chromecast.

It’s also possible this is a newStadiaproduct. Maybe it’s a non-Chromecast device that’s strictly for Stadia use? Maybe it will come bundled with Stadia controllers instead of a Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast with Google TV? It’s certainly possible.

This could also be a Nest-branded device. However, that seems the least likely possibility since Google just announceda whole slew of Nest products, so it wouldn’t likely have another one on the docket so soon.
