WhatsApp finally comes to the Nokia 8110: Here’s what you should expect

It’s been more than a year since theNokia 8110launched, butHMD Globalhas finally announced thatWhatsAppis available on the smart feature phone.
Before you go out and buy a Nokia 8110 though, the company said this WhatsApp release is limited to India for now. Hopefully other regions will follow suit sooner rather than later.
The rebooted banana phone was launched at MWC 2018, running a version of theKaiOSplatform dubbed Smart Feature OS. KaiOS brings several smartphone features to a basic feature phone design, such asGoogle Search, YouTube andGoogle Assistant. It also supports hardware features like 4G, Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth.
Nokia’s phone isn’t the first KaiOS device to get WhatsApp though, as India’s wildly popularJioPhoneseries received the messaging app late last year. TheKaiOS version of WhatsApprequires firmware version 2.5.1 or better, and supports the basic messaging features, group chats, voice notes, and photo/video sharing.
